- The villagers arrived at the silent house. By now they were well aware that its inhabitant did not survive the night. However, a morbid curiosity drove them to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homeowner's death. Without affording the late Mr. Seraphim the courtesy of knocking, the Mayor kicked down the wooden door. The village crowd entered the musty house.
The first and most striking feature of the disheveled home was the smell. The terrible stench of decay drove two villagers right back out into the front yard. However, both exchanged an untrusting glance at the other, and quickly ran back inside to join the crowd.
The moderate-sized (but shrinking by the day) crowd entered the main foyer. Vapid owned the largest estate in New Prosperity, being one of the first to settle there and the first to strike it rich in the mines. The stark wooden colors were menacingly dry, and concrete (or stone) accents added what little hospitality the house could be credited to have. As if the interior of the house wasn't imposing and unfriendly enough, bronze statues of Vapid decorated the room.
In one he was standing, arms at his hips, in a heroic pose. Another featured him sitting by the trunk of a bronze tree. But the third is what caught the villagers' attention. On the far right of the room, a large statue had been tipped over. This one featured vapid stepping on the throat of a large animal, a twisted and angry mass of bronze that perhaps resembled a wolf. The wolves clearly did not find it in good taste. From up and close, examining this statue, the smell of decay was at its strongest. The villagers could correctly deduce that Vapid's remains were near.
Opening the nearest door, the mayor walked into a small parlor and then choked on the toxic air. Vapid sat across the room, motionless. Most villagers retched at the terrible stench, but a few managed to make it inside the room to examine what became of Mr. Seraphim.
If the villagers could speak in that dreadful environment, one surely would have expressed astonishment at the state of Seraphim's corpse. Seraphim seemed to have gotten dressed up for his death. He was wearing his best suit, with a blue flower tucked away in the lapel. Most striking, however, was that he was more than dead. He had decayed significantly. His skin had sunk back and his lips had rotten. His eyes were closed, but the location of his eyelids were more than enough to figure out that his eyeballs were now gone. His mouth was slightly open, and his tongue was swollen and purple. The closest analogy the villagers could later come up with was that Seraphim looked like an unwrapped mummy in a suit. He was ghastly in appearance.
Vapid was clutching writings in his bony left hand. The mayor stashed these away. One villager approached the sitting man and removed the flower from his lapel.
"Put that down!" cried the Mayor, releasing a fit of coughs with it.
"That's wolfsbane! I'm deathly allergic..." he managed to choke out in the toxic air. He then began coughing heavily again and retching. The villager defensively clutched the flower and stashed it in his pocket. The mayor stumbled out of the room and the villagers followed.
Out in the fresh air again, the villagers looked reproachfully at the mayor. Being allergic to wolfsbane was unfortunate in these circumstances. Certainly didn't cast you in a favorable light. However, after weezing a few moments, the mayor was able to speak anew.
"..Ladies and gentlemen... *cough*
..Wolfsbane does not actually harm the werewolves among us. I invite you sir to *pause for breathing* to rub that there flower across the faces of all your peers should you feel the need, and none will go down seizing or shaking. None except for myself."
The flower-wielding villager didn't look convinced and indeed did just that. After wiping small amounts of pollen across the faces of several aggravated villagers, he gave up and dropped the little blue flower.
"Well then, Mr. Mayor, what do you make of all this? Why was Vapid in such bad condition? Why was he dressed up? What was he holding?"
"..Don't worry about that stuff. The last thing.. we need is... panic right now. I've got the clippings and will read them myself later. Panic is a terrible thing.."
"What do you say you let us read those clippings ourselves, and we'll decide how useful they are..." yelled the villager.
"I'm afraid I can't do that.."
The villager picked up the blue bulb once again.
"Give me the article or I run at you with this here bulb."
"..You wouldn't..."
"..Would I?"
The mayor thought for several seconds. The breeze picked up a bit. Just as the villager prepared to begin advancing, the Mayor pulled the clips from his vest pocket and let them fly with the breeze.
The villagers all ran and grabbed the clippings. The challenger dropped the flower and another kicked it away. The buzzing crowd gathered around the papers to see what goodies the mayor had tried to stash away.
"That's it??" cried one villager.
"Clippings from a crackpot book like that?"
The clippings were from an old almanac of ancient crafts and artifacts called The Aphid Vampire's Guide to Endless Power. Every entry in this 'almanac' was an artifact that supposedly granted its owner magnificent powers. The clippings that Vapid was clutching were pertinent to a ruby amulet. Just what the amulet did was anybody's guess... the body of the text had been ripped away.
Villagers shuffled back to town dissapointed. Not only were they deprived of the juicy conspiracy they hoped to find, but today would be a hard day. The villagers would need to scour the town for more silver. Tonight's execution would use their last silver bullet. All in all, things were beginning to fray. This crisis was looking more and more grim with each passing day.

I'm not sure why, but I feel like there was evidence for accusing captainkraft before. I'll try to find some when i have more time but I'm just putting my vote out there.

In regards to the story, I assume Vapid's decay refers to Sabb dying many days ago and reviving again as Vapid?

I'm voting for NOT THA WEREWOLF as well.
As far as the votes towards me... check JMan's breakdown. He had me as 100% villager if I recall correctly.
He also had some other wolves on the list that you should vote for.
I've already defended myself in a gigantic post in the past and I'd rather not do it again. Please check JMan's breakdown as well as my very long post from a few days back.
